Why do we believe we're doing a good job?
"Project teachers push me
to reach my full potential,
and make me believe
that it's a place high above
my own expectations."

Most important to us is what our students have to say. Check out STUDENT DESCRIPTIONS by hovering over the HOW TO JOIN tab.

From the Parent Perspective
We believe that we are most successful when we develop strong communication between parents, teachers and students. Hear from two Project parents about how their children came to feel more engaged as learners and better connected to school since joining Project '79. |

As we begin our 36th year, we know of no older comparable program anywhere in the United States. Named a “Star School” by the State of NJ (1994-95), p79 regularly receives visitors interested in setting up or improving their alternative programs.
Since 2011 we have been visited by schools such as, East Brunswick, Hunterdon Central, Beauchamp College in Leicester, England, and Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Our interdisciplinary projects have been featured in Suburban News and Star-Ledger, and our program was showcased on the NJEA television magazine Classroom Close-Up.
